Business Information
Based in Essen, Germany, RWE has a 125-year-old history of experience in the energy industry and is dedicated to driving forward the energy transition. We are committed to driving the development of renewable energy sources and reducing carbon emissions. With RWE’s “Growing Green” strategy, we are aiming to invest 55 billion euros into expanding our renewable energy portfolio by 65 GW by 2030.
35% of the funds are earmarked for offshore wind development. We are one of the largest offshore global wind players with over 20 years’ experience and we operate over 19 offshore wind farms across 5 different countries. Two new wind farms are currently under construction in Europe and further offshore projects are under development worldwide. Our goal is to grow our global offshore wind capacity from 3.3 GW today to 10 GW in 2030.
With our extensive experience of offshore wind project development, we are dedicated to delivering clean, sustainable renewable energy and helping to achieve Korea’s renewable energy targets. We are continuously working to expand our portfolio in Korea, and was recently awarded an Electricity Business Licence (EBL) by Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy for our Seohae offshore wind project.
This marks a significant milestone for expanding our footprint across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Building on the momentum from recent successes for winning an offshore auction for the Murakami Tainai project in Japan, we are solidifying our presence and strengthening our project pipeline across the APAC region, opening new opportunities and garnering partnerships to help build a long-term sustainable business and offshore wind industry.
RWE Renewables Korea will continue to work closely with local communities and Taean County to contribute to the delivery of renewable energy in the region, and provide longer term benefits, including the creation of jobs and opportunities for the local communities, industry and suppliers, who RWE places at the heart of offshore wind development.
